Pushing boundaries with low-carbon aluminum
An innovative approach with our eye on the future and our end users. With a wide range of durable trailers, we offer the transportation solution for business and residential use.
HYDRO REDUXA
At HAPERT Trailers, we use Hydro’s aluminum in our products. It is important to us where and how our products are produced. More than two-thirds of Hydro’s global aluminum production is based on hydropower, which means Hydro is among the aluminum industry with the lowest CO2 emissions.
HAPERT Trailers knows its social responsibility and wants to make its products increasingly sustainable. This is only possible by taking full responsibility for the complete chain of products of which the HAPERT trailer is a part: from used raw materials to the moment the trailer disappears from the streets.
“In a low-carbon world, we still need materials. Materials produced responsibly, with low emissions, that can be recycled and last longer.”

Energy consumption in the production of aluminum
Producing aluminum takes a lot of energy. Therefore, we believe it is very important to work with suppliers that use energy sources that leave a small carbon footprint. Traditionally, an aluminum plant generates its electricity by using coal. Because Hydro uses renewable water, wind and solar energy, it produces very environmentally friendly aluminum.
100 percent of Hydro’s primary aluminum production capacity in Norway is supplied by renewable energy. Globally, Hydro’s corresponding share of renewable power is above 70 percent. At the end of 2018, Hydro was the fourth largest consumer of renewable power in the world and the largest in Europe.
With aluminum from Hydro, we are choosing a material with a lower carbon footprint and material properties suitable for more sustainable production and consumption. Aluminum is light, which reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions from product use. Aluminum is 100 percent renewable, and recycling it requires only 5 percent of the energy needed to produce the metal the first time.
Our aluminum is ASI certified
Hydro’s aluminum is ASI certified. ASI Certified aluminum means it is made to a comprehensive standard for governance, environmental and social performance. Hydro aluminum certified with the ASI Performance Standard and the ASI Chain of Custody Standard help us document that our aluminum products are responsibly sourced and produced throughout the value chain.
