What is a 3-axle trailer?
A 3-axle trailer, also known as a tridem-axle trailer, is a trailer with three parallel axles positioned one behind the other. A 3-axle trailer has three wheels on each side. Nose weight of your 3-axle trailer
The drawbar pressure is the force with which the trailer, through the hitch, rests on the car’s tow bar. The pressure on the hitch depends on how the trailer is loaded. A lot of weight toward the drawbar can provide excessive drawbar pressure. Too much cargo in the back of the cargo box actually causes too low a nose weight. There can also be negative pressure, when there is an upward force acting on the hitch. In all of these situations, poor trailer loading is the cause, resulting in a higher risk of skidding and swerving.
Nose weight is one of the most important factors for the road handling of both the trailer and the towing vehicle. When developing a trailer, Hapert always takes the correct nose weight into account, including the right distance between the axles and the centre of the wheelbase.
